Raspberry Jam: a
Carole King tribute project

Founded in 2015 with a group of four musicians (piano, guitar, bass, drums), "Raspberry Jam" is the vision of Kari Marie del Rio to present an annual show highlighting the amazing songwriting talents of legendary American icon Carole King. The original band has expanded to feature an ensemble totaling eleven persons, with instrumentation including auxiliary percussion, violin, harmonica, a small horns section, and featured vocalists from around the area,

“King’s songwriting style is unmistakable; her piano-driven chart toppers have been influencing remarkable musicians throughout the decades. Bringing such wonderfully written music to the Fargo/Moorhead community and collaborating with diverse and talented musicians while putting our own interpretation and improvisational moments into the mix is a true delight,” del Rio has said. “From guaranteed crowd-pleasers to lesser-known hits, this concert will expose the audience to the gems that have defined generations.”

Widely regarded in high esteem, Carole King is the most successful female songwriter in the USA from the latter half of the 20th century, having written or co-written 118 pop hits on the Billboard Hot 100. She has had an unmistakable hand in weaving the musical fabric of America. Emerging in the late 1950s, she solidified her standing as a notable composer throughout the 60s, into the 70s, and beyond. King’s remarkable talent earned her four Grammy awards, a Kennedy Center Honor, induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, and two-time induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
